BootCamp for Betics Description

Are you a type I or type II diabetic? Do you believe that your health could be better than it is right now? If so, make it better by joining Brutus Partners for its Online BootCamp for Betics!

This three-week online boot camp has been designed for people with Type I or Type II diabetes who desire to live a more healthful and fulfilling life.

You might be wondering whether you have to take three weeks off from work to attend this boot camp. The answer is NO! The great part about online boot camps is that you can attend when you are available. Yes, there will be some live webcast events and some live chat events, however, all live events will be recorded and you'll be able to view and participate on your own time.

Your next question might be: What's it like to attend an online BootCamp for Diabetics?

Well, here's what we'll be covering during the three weeks we'll be together:

  • Daily check-ins with a facilitator via web conference
  • Introduction to diabetes
  • 30 things that can affect your blood sugar
  • Exercise coaching & physical exercise assignments/logging
  • Blood sugar conditioning and blood sugar assignments/logging
  • Understanding diabetes medications and insulins
  • Carbs, proteins, fats and everything else
  • Project managing your health
  • Doing diabetes math
  • Self-check quizzes
  • Understanding and owning habits
  • Training your family members and getting family support
  • Online chats and online forum discussions with other diabetics

Note: Each individual participant must know their own physical exercise limitations, and the completion of physical assignments will vary widely among participants. Only you and your doctor can decide what physical activities are appropriate for you. BootCamp for Betics may suggest physical activities for all fitness levels, or participants can invent their own physical activity for each physical assignment. In short, you don't have to run miles, here. Perhaps you can walk around the block instead. Everything counts!

Upon successful completion of this camp, we expect you'll discover that you've increased your exercise level, have better blood sugar control and, over time, achieve an A1c level that is within or closer to target range.

What you need in order to participate:

1. A computer that complies with the GoToWebinar (our webcast service) requirements.
2. An email address
3. A high-speed internet connection
4. Computer Speakers that work, or else a phone (so you can connect to the webcast audio)
5. A printer (for downloading and printing instructions and forms)
6. Ability to use a keyboard and mouse
7. Known exercise limitations (if any) as prescribed by your physician
8. A glucose meter and 100 strips, a finger-poker and lancets. Note: If you don't have strips or a meter, get some. Many insurance companies pay for a portion of your test strips if you have a doctor's prescription. If your insurance company provides rotten coverage or if you don't have insurance at all, you can get a meter and strips at Wal-Mart (the Reli-On brand) for a reasonable price.
